Covering a product family under one approval
Where several models share the same radio design, they can often be approved as a series: one lead model is fully tested and the variants are covered by a difference analysis instead of a second full test campaign.
The decisive question is whether the differences touch the radio. Housing colour, memory size or a different display usually do not; a different antenna, PCB layout or RF front end usually do.
